Angela Madsen’s accomplishments are the epidemy of the saying “anything is possible”. Angela, a former US Marine, who was a Paralympic Rower in addition to her other many hats, holds 14 Guinness world-records. When Angela underwent surgery to her back in 1993, an error occurred that led to partial paralysis. After facing challenging financial woes and depression directly afterwards, Angela became homeless. Angela eventually began playing wheelchair basketball which turned her life around. Soon after, Angela was introduced to rowing. Angela obtained several Gold Medals and set world records during her rowing career. Angela didn’t stop there; she was also a Paralympic Bronze Medalist in the shot put.

Angela’s journey was absolutely incredible and quite inspirational as each day she posted updates via a satellite phone regarding the conditions, her meals, her health, her course, etc. Angela faced countless adversities head on despite her disabilities. Angela’s positive outlook and determination are proof that perspective is so important when faced with an injury or disability.
